"I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts. Like my ribs, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me." -Ray Charles

"Bullying consists of the least competent most aggressive employee projecting their incompetence on to the least aggressive most competent employee and winning." - Anonymous
Last week, on November 28, Marjorie Raymond killed herself due to bullying. Even if her death is really sad and she should’ve look for another way to deal with her problems than suicide, I think it’s wrong of people to get back at Jade, the one who bullied Marjorie, because defending bullying by bullying is not the right way to deal with the problem. People are just doing exactly what they are criticizing. There is something that most people don’t understand. They shouldn’t bully Jade for what she have done, because we don’t really know if she is the only cause of Marjorie’s suicide. Before killing herself Marjorie wrote a letter to her family, she was saying that it was not her mother’s fault and that “it’s the fault of life, of jealous people who want to ruin their happiness”. It’s the kind of letter that no one wants to receive from their daughter.
"I've been actually really very pleased to see how much awareness was raised around bullying, and how deeply it affects everyone. You know, you don't have to be the loser kid in high school to be bullied. Bullying and being picked on comes in so many different forms." - Lady Gaga
I find it unfair that people are talking so much about Marjorie when she is just one of many others! 5000 teens are killing themselves every year and we don’t hear about them. Why? Because a little boy who is overweight or a teen who’s gay have reasons to be bullied, but Marjorie a girl who doesn’t seem different from any other teens doesn’t have a reason to be bullied. That’s how most people think and I hate it.
"The things that make me very angry are injustice and bullying. If I see someone bullying a woman or child in the street, or kicking a dog, I go completely mad." - Susannah York
Right now, a lot of people are posting videos on Youtube where they talk about intimidation and some of them are also sharing their secrets, the way they were bullied, how they got through it, etc. Every video I watched was really sad and made me angry and I really want to do something so that bullying will stop, but what can I do?
Here is my favorite video I watched last week. Please listen to it and tell me what you think. ( Sorry it's in french)
(Warning: contains swearing) Seriously, the fact that people starts realising how bad bullying is NOW makes me rage so hard. When I was a kid, I would always get picked on, not even a single teacher cared during recess. And now sh!t gets posted on facebook and a girl had to die for people to REALLY act about it? And then they post "How many more people will have to die after Marjorie?", as if she's the first one to whom it ever happened. Bitch please, don't act as if you really mean it, you've never been bullied, you've never done anything against it before. These guys don't even know Marjorie and are all so Baawww While there are other people they actually know, people in their classes, who are in that social "reject" circle, who always get picked on and they just ignore it. Seriously, what the fuck? Such hipocritical demeanor makes me wonder what's the good fight to be fought these days.
I totally agree with you and with Antoine. Seriously? This is just pathetic. She is just the one who did it on thousand of people who think about that, and she is not the first one, and not the last one. The real disaster is not her suicide, they put too much emphasis on her, bullying about the girl that bullied her. The real disaster is that this girl did not find an other way to end her problems. Some people seem to realize only now that yes, bullying is a major problem, but instead of giving all the importance on one girl who decided to take the easy way, maybe people should be more opened to see what happened around them. The fact is that since a few days, we do not hear about that story anymore, and nothing will change. I would like to make bullying stop, but I can't, the only thing I can do is telling my own story, the story of all my friends that had been bullied and showed to the people that yes, it is possible to go through that.
Totally agree with you there.
